FAQ

Common questions.

Answers to the questions we hear most often from prospective clients.

What types of companies does Shift7 work with?
We work with mid-market and enterprise organizations, typically 100 to 10,000+ employees. Our clients span healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and technology. The common thread is that they rely on their infrastructure to run their business and need it to be reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
How does a typical engagement begin?
Every engagement starts with a free strategy session — a 30-minute conversation to understand your environment, challenges, and goals. From there, we typically propose an Assessment phase where we audit your current infrastructure and deliver a findings report with prioritized recommendations.
Do you only work with AWS?
AWS is our primary cloud platform and where we hold the deepest expertise. However, we regularly work with hybrid environments that include on-premises data centers, Azure, and GCP. We meet you where your infrastructure is.
What does Shift7 charge for consulting?
We offer both project-based fixed pricing and retainer arrangements. The right model depends on the scope and duration of work. We will always give you a clear proposal with defined deliverables before any work begins — no surprises.
Can you help with compliance requirements?
Yes. We have experience designing and auditing infrastructure for SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and FedRAMP compliance frameworks. We help you build the technical controls and documentation needed to pass audits.
Do you provide ongoing support after a project?
Absolutely. Many clients start with a project engagement and transition to a strategic advisory retainer. This gives you ongoing access to our team for architecture reviews, incident support, and infrastructure planning as your needs evolve.
Where is Shift7 located?
We're based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Most of our work is done remotely, and we serve clients across the entire United States. For local Arizona clients, we're happy to meet in person.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on scope. An infrastructure assessment typically takes 2-4 weeks. A cloud migration can range from 1-6 months depending on complexity. We always define timelines and milestones upfront so expectations are clear from day one.
